The company was founded in 1945 by A.E. “Slim” Billings, leaving his shipyard-welding job just prior to the end of WWII to start his own business and named it Lomita Saw & Lawnmower Shop. He later added locksmithing & key making. Within a year he acquired some utility trailers and began renting them along with just about anything else he would find that contractors, industrial firms & homeowners could use, since non-military tools & equipment were scarce due to the preceding five-year war effort. It has become a non-stop effort to keep up with the customers ever since.
The name has changed to A-1 Coast Rentals, A-1 Coast Temporary Services (formerly A-1 Coast Sanitation, Inc.) was added to the mix in 1963 with the acquisition of LeBleu Sanitation, a small company, which rented portable toilets. The Company has expanded to its present size as one of the top half dozen or so, a supplier in Southern California, not only toilets but also temporary power poles, fencing and job sheds.
The A-1 Coast sister companies, operating together, are able to furnish the greatest varieties of rental equipment services in the country. If not the largest, certainly one of the most diverse.
The staffs of both companies have the most talented, efficient and dedicated people, which comprise one of the proudest and well-respected teams in our industry.
